In a groundbreaking achievement, Express Global Logistics (EXG) of India has demonstrated an unparalleled feat of transportation, successfully managing the complex movement of vast modules for an innovative green hydrogen project in Saudi Arabia. The endeavor required the transport of 14 massive structures, each weighing up to 250 tonnes and measuring 50 meters in length, 12 meters in width, and 18 meters in height, reaching a total of 1,500 freight tonnes.
EXG employed advanced Scheuerle self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs) from their specialized Megaload fleet, using 48 axle lines and technology-driven power pack units to guarantee precise handling of the modules. Innovative solutions such as custom-engineered spacers were implemented in the process. For eight of the modules, a strategic roll-on roll-off (RoRo) approach was adopted, allowing efficient loading onto vessels using unique ramp plates and stools while ensuring balance through careful ballasting.
The remaining six modules demanded meticulous execution, where SPMTs responsibly transferred them to a jetty. There, the modules underwent precise lifting executed by crawler cranes, exemplifying EXG’s expert handling capabilities in overcoming distinctive transport challenges.
In January 2023, EXG fortified its industrial logistics potential through a vital partnership with Italian powerhouse Fagioli, forming the joint venture Megaload. This collaboration has broadened both entities’ capacities, enriching the provision of innovative solutions across sectors such as petrochemical and construction industries.
This significant achievement highlights EXG’s dedication to precision and safety, reflecting their expertise and skill in the realm of heavyweight logistics, with promising potential for future developments in the field.
